Huzzah for the weekend! The weather earlier this week was kind of miserable; we even got freezing rain and snow one morning (Monday, I think?). Now, it’s about 60°F, sunny, and pleasant. Today, I had a quiz in my algorithms class that went extremely well, and I got back a mid-term (one that I took almost a month ago) that didn’t go so well but should be heavily curved. Upon finishing class, I checked some websites and eventually took a 3 hour long nap; I’m hoping that means I’ll be able to stay up late tonight. About an hour ago, I got back from finally playing some ultimate frisbee (it didn’t happen last weekend), conveniently leaving just as my team broke a tie.
But I did have a reason to leave when I did: tonight at 8 pm, I’ll be participating in a Jeopardy-style competition, helping represent the World Affairs Club against the Economics Society and some other group, so I needed to shower and change for that. The event is a fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders, so I’m happy to support it. Once that’s done, I go back to my dorm to get my dice and books and then I’m off to a rousing session of Dungeons and Dragons, where I’ll get to see Rachel (if you don’t know who she is, see last post), so of course I’m looking forward to that.
As for the weekend itself, tomorrow is the Progressive Student Alliance’s big annual event called the One World Forum. Basically, we bring in a bunch of speakers to talk about “progressive” topics, meaning environmental issues, sexuality, and war, among other things. I don’t always agree with the opinions of the speakers we bring in, but they’re usually thought-provoking and engaging. That’ll last until around 7 or 8 pm, after which I’ll probably try to hang out with Rachel again.
And Sunday’s wide open, except for the International Bazaar from 12-4 pm. Consequently, I’ll likely be getting work done. Fortunately, other than a project and some reading, I have a relatively meager workload. I may even be playing some tennis, but that’s doubtful.
All right, I think that’s it. Apparently, I have a fairly busy weekend ahead of me, so don’t expect to hear anything else from me until Sunday at the earliest. I’ve been posting on a frequent basis, and I will try to keep it up, but as always, no promises.
Before I go, I’d like to give a shoutout to Neil, my recently deputized hyperlink checker. Thanks, Neil! Now get back to work!
