And Now for Something Completely Different...

A man and a woman approach a house. The house is unfamiliar, but it beckons them. An old woman ushers them in.

The couple look at each other. They have known each other for years, but they aren't really a couple; just two good friends who went to school together. They don't know how they came upon this place or why they are here. All they know is, excitement awaits them. They enter the house.

There is classical music in the background. It's not distinct, but it is powerful, emotional, swelling. Its influence is immediate. Instinctively, the friends embrace and lock lips. They didn't intend to do this, at least not consciously, but there's something about this place that forces them (or, is it, permits them?) to kiss.

Suddenly, they're twirling throughout the house, going from room to room without really noticing what's there. All they can catch are glimpses, images that encourage them to continue embracing one another. It seems to be a museum of some sort. There are exhibits; that's for certain. Nothing sticks in their minds, but the message is clear.

They enjoy the kiss, but the lack of control is frightening. He gingerly tries to pull away from her (he can't tell if she's doing the same), but their lips are stuck together through some invisible force. Magnetism? They don't know, but eventually, they submit to the house's will and stop resisting.

The kiss continues on for moments, seconds, minutes, as the friends spin together, unable to act in any other way. The music is still there too. And then, they are outside the house, and the kiss has stopped. They stand apart, trying to reorient themselves.

They look at each other. They grin like children who have been caught pulling a harmless prank, something they shouldn't have done but did anyway. Without a word, they reach out for each other's hand, and they continue on, together. They are still friends but also something more...

I have some strange dreams.

Haha, I had a lip-locking dream last night, too, in the few hours I had to sleep (had a duathlon this morning!). Except, I was so tired, I was experiencing a dream within a dream. More often then not, when I'm dreaming, I'm well aware of the outside world (me cozied up in my blankets terrified my alarm will wake me before I'm refreshed), but not in this case... not exactly, that is. Because it was a dream within a dream, I was sure that the first dream was reality.

Anyway, so I'm lip-locked with a girl I really like, and it's like kissing a tentacle, or that sucky-thing in a pool. So, it's weird, but I'm like: "well, I guess I could get used to this." But then I was thinking: "wait! is this a dream, or is this reality?" And (still making out) I try to make sense of this.

It's too good to be true, though, as I suddenly wake from my 2nd dream, only to realize that in my first dream (currently my reality) I was so tired that while sleepwalking I went to some sleazy website where I could find pictures of said girl. "I knew it was too good to be true" and immediately felt embarrassed and angry that while sleepwalking (totally out of my control) I went to such a stupid website.

Then the alarm went off at 6AM, and I was awake in the real reality. I figured that's one way to catch up on my delta waves - sleep in a dream.

Cheers!

What odd timing that we would both have such dreams. As you can tell, mine was a little more abstract and vague, partially because I waited until the afternoon to write about it, and partially because, even immediately after waking up from a dream, many of the details immediately vanish. And of course, there are times when I can't remember what I dreamed about at all. I figure that, if I can remember the details (relatively) vividly many hours later, it must have been an important dream.

Dreams within dreams are terrible, in my opinion. They're too grounded in reality. I like the freaky ones better. :-)

Agreed on freaky dreams! I woke from another dream-within-a-dream dream like coming up for air - for real! One huge gasp of oxygen.

I was reading up on dreams and all that sorta stuff, and apparently there is a way to make dreams more vivid and more memorable. They say as soon as you wake up, don't move a muscle. Instead try your very hardest to remember the dream you were having. A lot of times at wake your dream is just slipping through your fingers, and if you don't take the time to regrab it, it'll be lost for sure! Then they say write it down.

If you do this long enough, somehow subconsciously your dreaming becomes a more important aspect of your life and your psyche will accordingly remember them better. You should also stand a better chance at lucid dreaming.

There was about a week a few years ago in which I had total control of my dreams. I spent all those nights turning into various birds and flying around campus. Oh, man! it was a trip! If you ever get to that phase, I highly recommend flying around. Nothing quite like it!

Cheers!
